Opening Ceremony of the technology supply-demand connection point in the Northern Midlands and Mountains region of Vietnam

The technology supply-demand connection point in the Northern Midlands and Mountains, located at the University of Agriculture and Forestry (Thai Nguyen University), is the officially 10th one in Vietnam. On November 2020, State Agency for Technology Innovation (SATI), Thai Nguyen Department of Science and Technology,  University of Agriculture and Forestry (Thai Nguyen University) organized the Grand Opening of  supply-demand of technology connection point for the Northern Midlands and Mountains area in Thai Nguyen. Attending the event were Mr. Tran Van Tung - Deputy Minister of Science and Technology; Mr. Nguyen Van Thinh - Vice Chairman of Vietnam Cooperative Alliance - VCA, Mr. Pham Hong Quang Director of Thai Nguyen University; leaders of SATI and leaders representing units under the Ministry of Science and Technology, leaders of Thai Nguyen’s Department of Science and Technology and departments, branches and associations of Thai Nguyen province; leaders of University of Agriculture and Forestry; research institutes, universities, technology transfer intermediaries and enterprises inside and outside Thai Nguyen province.

Deputy Minister Tran Van Tung emphasized that the establishment of the 10th technology supply-demand connection point in the Northern Midlands and Mountains in Thai Nguyen had its own meaning through connecting supply - demand between one of the country's major research and training centers with an area of great potential development. The point will be a place to create spillover, impact and timely connection between universities, research institutions and enterprises, S&T organizations; to organize activities of consultancy, evaluation, selection, association, cooperation in technology application, transfer and innovation to accelerate the application of research results and new technologies into practice of production - business of the enterprise, results a high and sustainable socio-economic efficiency to Thai Nguyen province in particular, the Northern Midlands and Mountains region and the country in general.

In order to connect technology supply – demand for more practical results, Deputy Minister Tran Van Tung suggested agencies and businesses in Thai Nguyen, and in the region, to strengthen close coordination with Thai Nguyen University, Thai Nguyen Department of Science and Technology and other scientists, research institutes inside and outside the province to continue implementing the results from the Connection Point, especially successfully implement cooperation agreements and transfer agreements. He expected that SATI together with relevant agencies under the Ministry of Science and Technology regularly support, provide and update technology databases and technology experts for Connection Points not only in Thai Nguyen but also for the whole country, supply a mechanism to link the activities of connection points to promote technology application and transfer, step by step developing a sustainable and effective S&T market.

The Law on Technology Transfer 2017 clearly defines the role of a technology supply-demand connection point to implement technology transfer promotion, as a place for technology exhibition, introduction, purchase and sale. The formation and operation of the technology supply-demand connection point is one of the specific solutions to promote technology application, transfer and innovation among organizations, enterprises and individuals in domestic and abroad area, contribute to improving the technological level and capacity of enterprises, the quality and efficiency of scientific research and production, business activities, promote the S&T market in Vietnam.

Currently, there are 09 supply - demand technology connection points representing the local areas. Connection points have just been established but initially implemented effectively in promoting technology application, innovation and transfer. The operation of the Connection points has partly helped to increase the transaction value of S&T goods on the market to meet the innovation requirements of enterprises, improve national competitiveness, support and promote related actors participate in activities of the S&T market and link the domestic S&T market with regional and international S&T markets.

 At the opening ceremony of the technology supply-demand connection point in the Northern Midlands and Mountains, the signing of cooperation in research and technology transfer between Nong Lam University and Vietnam Cooperative Alliance - VCA Between S&T supply organizations in the region and enterprises, it took place as the trigger of the technology supply-demand connection point in Thai Nguyen province.
